Gopal P Das
Founder, Chairman & CEO
Gopal joined Das & Co. in 2015 as Managing Director, focused on a variety of private market opportunities.
In Das & Co.’s portfolio, Gopal is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Apex Resources Ltd., Co-Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of Safehouse Technologies, the Managing Director of KHMDL, and a Senior Advisor to the Chairman of the Board at Orthogonal Thinker. He has also led investments in Relativity Space and UrLife/Slice Media.
Gopal received his A.B. in Economics from Brown University and his MSc in Global Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2009, Gopal directed and produced the award winning documentary “Ayurveda: Otherwise No Yoga.”
Shigongo J. Kimogele
Eng. Kimogele joined the practicing mining industry in 1992 after graduating with a Bachelor of Minerals Sciences in Mining Engineering from the University of Zambia. From January 1992 to January 1993, Eng. Kimogele was employed as a Junior Mining Engineer at Mundarara Ruby Mining responsible for surveying and supervision of hoisting. From Feb 1993 to March 1998, Eng. Kimogele was employed by Graphtan Limited, a company that was mining tanzanite in a small underground mine and graphite ore in a 200 metric tonnes per annum open pit.
Eng. Kimogele joined Graphtan Ltd as the Underground Manager responsible for managing the small underground tanzanite mine. Later on Eng. Kimogele become the planning engineer responsible for short mine plans for the graphite open pit, scheduling of blasts, equipment record keeping as well as preparation of weekly and monthly reports for senior management. Eng. Kimogele was later promoted to the position of Mine Superintendent and later on Mining Manager, responsible for managing all the activities in the 200 tonnes per annum graphite ore open pit.
In 1998, Eng. Kimogele became a small scale tanzanite miner in Mererani, where he introduced inclined shaft mining, sequential blasting and mechanical hoisting in small scale mines. This resulted to improved safety, improved advance per blast and hence bringing the mine into production within a relatively short period for mines in Block D Mererani. During the same period, Eng. Kimogele was involved in consultation activities for small scale gemstone miners in various mining areas in the northern zone of Tanzania.
In 2009, Eng. Kimogele with his partners established a Controlled Blasting and Construction Company Limited. The company was registered by the Contractors Registration Board in Civil Works and Building Contractors. Eng. Kimogele was its first Board Chairman and Managing Director.
In December 2015, Eng. Kimogele was invited by Apex Resources Limited to do consultation works for their gold mining project that was at its infancy in Itumbi, Chunya Tanzania. In August 2016, Eng. Kimogele was employed as the General Manager of Apex Resources Limited, leading it from its infancy to a gold producing company, able to pay for its operating costs, additional capital investments and steadily paying back loans that were acquired in establishing the company.
Abdulkarim Ali Shauri
Processing Plant Manager
A holder of BSc (Hons) in Mineral Processing Engineering, Eng. Shauri has a vast experience in gold processing. After graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam, he was employed by Barrick Gold Corporation – North Mara Gold Mine (Tarime, Tanzania) from Jan 2008 to Aug 2008 as a Process Technician. Due to his hard work and commendable leadership, he was promoted to the position of Graduate Metallurgist within six months of joining the company. He worked in that position for two years. In December 2010, Eng Shauri was promoted to the position of plant Metallurgist up to March 2013.
In August 2014, Abdulkarim joined STAMIGOLD – Biharamulo Mine (Biharamulo, Tanzania) as a plant Metallurgist up to December 2017. In this position, Eng Shauri was involved in implementing innovative process improvements, work practices and equipment utilization, which improve productivity and/or increase equipment availability. Providing technical support to operations § Reviewing and Preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) § Generating daily, weekly and monthly Gold Plant performance reports for senior management review § Metallurgical accounting and reporting §Participating in metallurgical continuous improvement projects.
In August 2019, Eng Shauri joined Apex Resources Limited as the Processing Plant Manager, at the time when the plant was performing much below its designed capacity. He managed to transform the processing plant from a stoppages prone plant to an efficient running one. Since his coming into the picture, the processing plant has been achieving its targets consistently. Few spillages, improved communition, increased recovery, reduced operating costs as well as creating a motivated team of workers. Re-engineering of some parts of the plant has been done with success.
Masanja Donald Kiloba
Finance & Administration Manager
A holder of a Masters of Science Degree in Finance, Mr. Kiloba has vast experience in the accounting field. After graduating his first degree in finance in the year 1999 he joined the work field as an Assistant Lecture at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha from Jan2000 to May2005. During the time he was at the Institute, he attained the certification from NBAA as Certified Public Accountant CPA(T) in the year 2000.

Mr Kiloba joined Apex Resources Limited in February 2020 to head the finance and administrative department. Since his coming into the team, finance matters, purchases, stores, administration and Human Resources Issues have been improved.
Bonaventure Charles Shirima
Mr. Shirima is a holder of Bachelor Degree of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Dodoma (UDOM), attained in the year 2012. In April 2013 to September 2015, Mr. Shirima was employed by Aust East Africa Mining Ltd in the position of Administrative and Logistics Officer.
From October 2015 to March 2018, Mr. Shirima was employed by Segemcom Energy & Telecom Tanzania Ltd as a Finance and Administration Manager. On this position, among other activities, Mr. Shirima was responsible for establishing monthly bank reconciliation, reconciling accounts and tax returns, manage company statutory obligations (WHT, PAYE, SDL, VAT, PENSION etc.). He was also responsible for establishing annual financial statements in collaboration with an external auditor. All administrative issues of the company were also under his command.
Mr. Shirima joined Apex Resources Limited in October 2018 as an accountant. He joined the company at a critical stage in developing and putting in place accounting, purchases and stores procedures for Apex Resources Limited. He was tasked with formulating and implementing finance policies and internal control procedures. Other activities include computing payrolls on monthly basis with associated statutory requirements including remittances. Other activities include entering financial records into Quickbooks accounting package, also working closely with external auditors in preparing annual financial statements for the company.
Yohanes Cherstino Kinyunyu
Mr. Kinyunyu joined the mining industry in 1994 as a heavy earth moving equipment operator. Due to his commitment and working hard spirit, a fast learner of the various unit operations of the mining trade, as well as being trustful, he climbed the ladder into leadership as a foremen for the 200,000 tonnes per annum graphite open pit in Northern Tanzania. In 1998, he joined small scale tanzanite mines as a foreman, where he successful supervised the mines with high standards of safety, low cost and bringing the mine to production within a relatively short period. From Tanzanite mining, he moved into quarry operations for the production of stones for road construction in Tanzania and Uganda.
In 2016 he joined Apex Resources Limited as a mine superintendent at the very beginning of re-opening the colonial era Chui Shaft at Itumbi village in Southern Tanzania. He has risen to become the Mining Manager in charge of our sister company, XEPA RESOURCES LIMITED, that produces ore for our processing plant. Under his leadership, the ore has been produced safely and consistently to feed the plant with no lack.
Edson Charles Ngasa
A holder of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Applied Geology, Mr. Ngasa joined Apex Resources Limited in 2018 as a junior Geologist. Mr. Ngasa has worked with the team since then, hardworking, trustful and committed to improving ore availability for the processing plant. Mr. Ngasa has managed to study the way the ore body exists at our mine hence direct our mining team to the best areas for ore production. Mr. Ngasa has also done some preliminary exploration works in other areas in and around Itumbi that has allowed our sister company to get into mining partnerships with many small scale gold miners, thus increasing ore sources for our Processing Plant.
Raymond F. Rukomwa
Chief Security Officer
A retired police office with the rank of Inspector of Police, he joined the police force in 1986 as a general duties police officer. Thereafter, Mr. Rukomwa was shifted to the position of criminal investigation department from 1990 to 2004. Having shown good conduct and hard-working sprit, Mr Rukomwa was promoted to the position of incharge of the criminal investigations department at TAZARA police station in Mbeya Region Southern Tanzania. From 2011 to 2013 Mr. Rukomwa was Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Mkwajuni and Galula police stations both in Songwe Region southern Tanzania. In 2014 to 2019 Mr. Rukomwa was promoted to the position of Twice OC CID at Chunya Police Station in Mbeya Region as well as the Public Prosecutor Incharge at the District Court at Chunya. Mr. Rukomwa ceremoniously retired from the police force in December 2019.
During his 34 years of service in the Tanzanian Police force, Mr. Rukomwa did various professional training follows starting with a certificate in Basic Recruit Course at the Police College (CCP) in Moshi in 1985 to 1986, followed by various junior police courses, culminating to Inspectoral course that of Assistant Inspector and Second in Command Course at Police Training Scholl (PTS) in Moshi during the year 2010 to 2011. The final course was in 2018 for an Inspector Refresher Course at PTS.
Mr. Rukomwa joined Apex Resources Limited as the Chief Security Officer in January 2020. Since his coming into the security section, discipline and order has been on the rise among security guards employed by Apex Resources Limited and also security companies contracted by our company.
Hussein Jumanne Kitiku
Mr. Kitiku joined the mining industry in Jan 2002 as an employee of African Barrick Gold at Bulyanghulu mine in Tanzania as a Geo-Technician up to Feb 2004. Activities that were done include soil sampling, RAB drilling, RC drilling, core cutting and sample preparation. November 2004 to October 2009,Worked with African Barrick Gold in Tanzania, Bulyanhulu mine as Ganger Leader- conventional stopping, shrinkage and development. From October 2009 to October 2010, Mr Kitiku was promoted to the position of Jnr to Snr shift boss, Conventional Stopping, Shrinkage and Development.
From November 2010 to July 2015, Mr. Kitiku was again promoted to the position of Mine Captain/Firstline Leader – Conventional Stopping, Shrinkage and Development. Among other works, Mr. Kitiku was responsible for ensuring all safety hazards are identified, evaluated and controlled in accordance with company policy and procedures. Identifying the opportunities to improve and develop strategies to mitigate risk. Maximizing production at low cost without jeopardizing safety. Supervision of mine designs, planning &scheduling, constantly reviewing all controllable cost. Promotion and enforcement of the use of safe and efficient work among staffs.
From August 2015 to March 2016, Mr Kitiku worked with Endeavour Mining Corp in Mali-West Africa, as an Expert, Senior supervisor u/g mining – Conventional Stopping, Shrinkage and Development. FromAugust 2016 to March 2017, Mr. Kitiku was employed by RedMining as Section Leader. In both the two companies, similar activities were performed as when working with Barrick Gold in senior positions.
Mr. Kitiku joined Apex Resources Limited in January 2019 as a mine captain. He is responsible for supervision of underground gold mining activities at our sister company mines. Besides ensuring that production targets are met safely and economically, Mr. Kitiku is also responsible for the Safety Section for the company. Mr. Kitiku is the principal trainer for safety awareness among all employees. Ensuring incidents and accidents are investigated, well documented and remedies implemented.
